In May 2013, the Reinier de Graaf hospital introduced ReinierNet, a social intranet . Since its launch, the liveliness and interaction on this intranet has only increased. Unlike a 'traditional' intranet, a social intranet is primarily focused on sharing, responding, collaborating and securing knowledge and experience. This article describes the lessons learned during the introduction of this intranet in the oldest hospital in the Netherlands.
To be connected
For the Reinier de Graaf hospital, being connected is important. It is so important that it is stated as a mission on the website: “We want to be the most connected hospital. (..) Connectedness in a hospital leads to better care and faster, better results. By working from a deeper understanding of and feeling for each other, more coherence in care, a more pleasant stay and more job satisfaction are created”. How do you, as an organization of more than three thousand professionals, realize such an ambitious goal?
