The Instagram algorithm alone decides which Reels you see and which Reels you don't. Only Adam Mosseri and Satan himself know how it works.
It's a joke. Yes, the Instagram algorithm is intentionally obscure and constantly changing. But we know several factors that go into this magic formula.
Relationships. The algorithm looks at who you interact with and how often. Your feed will be more likely to display Reels from accounts you follow. Likes, comments, direct messages, or shares increase the chances of your Reels appearing on other users' feeds.

The 9:16 aspect ratio only applies if the user is in the Reels section of Instagram. If the reel is displayed in the feed, then the aspect ratio is 4:5. This means that part of the video will be hidden. To avoid the highlight being out of focus, try placing important information (like text) in the middle of the screen when editing your reel.
