The European CBD market was worth USD 359 million in 2020. According to forecasts by the Brightfield Group, this amount will increase to USD 3.1 billion in just five years. The booming cannabidiol market has
philippine cellphone number code not spared Poland either. In 2019 alone, the area under cannabis cultivation in the Vistula country increased by 79% and exceeded 3,000 hectares. Despite the complicated laws and the large number of documents to be filled out at government offices, Polish farmers are becoming convinced to grow hemp, as the market for this crop is growing at a very fast pace. There is also the possibility of the Polish legislature relaxing the law, which would further accelerate the development of the hemp industry in Poland. The Parliamentary Group for the Legalisation of Cannabis, which currently has 18 deputies, regularly tries to submit to the Sejm bills that would make life easier for both cannabis farmers and entrepreneurs. Analysing the composition of the Parliamentary Group for the Legalisation of Cannabis, we can safely conclude that cannabis unites, not divides. It is rare that the leader of the Together party, Adrian Zandberg, known for his left-wing views, acts together with Dobromir Sośnierz or Konrad Berkowicz from Konfederacja. In this case, however, deputies from two different worlds decided to overcome the division and fight for the development of the hemp industry in Poland.
Polish hemp companies begin expansion into the European market
Polish hemp companies are attracting great interest from investors, who see great potential for earning a lot of capital. In 2020, the company Kombinant Konopny broke a Polish crowdfunding record. The company managed to raise PLN 4.2 million in just 40 minutes. The record was already broken at the beginning of 2021, when CanPoland, a company selling hemp-based medicinal products, raised a staggering PLN 4.4 million in 11 minutes. The company used the funds raised to set up a production line for a pharmaceutical raw material based on non-fibrous hemp, or so-called medical marijuana. With just one production line, the company can produce pharmaceutical raw material both in the form of flowers and oils.
CanPoland is growing at a very fast pace and is entering Western markets with its products. The company is also planning to go public on NewConnect in order to raise additional capital for investment. The market has fallen in love with cannabis companies because investors believe that the sector has a bright future. This is no surprise. Market experts, doctors, investors, everyone sees this huge potential. Even some politicians are starting to see it too. The moment the rulers give the green light to green hemp by introducing laws that will liberalize and simplify legislation in Poland, we will witness an incredible growth of the CBD market in Poland.
