Joplin has an easy-to-understand interface and is available on virtually all operating systems. I like that it has more levels of folder nesting than Evernote offers.
What do I not like?
As is often the case with open source software, the program is rather plain and unadorned (no frills, as the English say) and offers little to no options for adding a little more visual joy to the program with colors or icons. I do like to write my blog posts in Markdown format, but "having to" write all my texts in an app like this puts me off from serious use. If neither of these are negative points for you, you should definitely install Joplin and work with it for a while.
