Facebook vs. QAnon – Facebook announces that accounts viber data linked to QAnon will now be banned from its platforms. Like Twitter , Facebook (and by extension Instagram) are fighting against the spread of posts that serve the meta-conspiracy of the Trump era , including by removing accounts, pages and ads . But despite this fight, specialists at the Columbia Journalism Review warn that the era of “alternative facts” and QAnon could continue well after the election.

US Elections & Ads – After Google, Facebook announced that it would remove all ads prematurely mentioning a Donald Trump victory . The social network went back on its announcement this week to extend this decision to all politically-oriented ads . Just like Google, the moratorium imposed by Facebook will last one week from the end of the election , in order to “reduce the possibility of confusion or abuse” during the vote counting.

@realDonaldTrump – Following the press release announcing his positive test for Covid-19, the American president staged his recovery in record time on Twitter . While Twitter reminded that it was illegal to wish someone death on the platform, Donald Trump's "miraculous" recovery quickly went viral. At the end of the week, Facebook and Twitter blocked a message from Donald Trump on Covid-19 in which he claimed that this virus was less dangerous than the seasonal flu. White House spokeswoman Kayleigh McEnany also tested positive and correspondents expressed their anger on social networks at the lack of measures to protect them .
