In value terms, negative trade balances were recorded with developing countries: PLN –176.6 billion (USD –49.1 billion, EUR –41.5 billion) and with Central and Eastern European countries: PLN –32.7 billion (USD –9.1 billion, EUR –7.7 billion).
A positive balance was achieved in trade with developed countries at +PLN 187.9 billion (+USD 52.3 billion, +EUR 44.1 billion), including the balance with EU countries reaching +PLN 194.7 billion (+USD 54.1 billion, +EUR 45.7 billion).
Poland's main trading partners in 2018
In 2018, Poland's main trading partners recorded an linkedin data increase in exports and imports to all the countries in the top ten, with the exception of Italy in exports.
Export turnover with the top ten of our trading partners in 2018 increased by +0.6% compared to the previous year and accounted for 66.8% of total exports (compared to 66.2% in 2017). Total imports from this group of countries accounted for 64.7% in 2018 (compared to 65.7% in 2017), which means a decrease in the share of imports by 1%.
Poland's largest foreign trading partner in 2018 was Germany. Germany's share in Polish exports increased by 0.7% compared to the same period in 2017 and amounted to 28.2%, and in imports it decreased by 0.7% and accounted for 22.4%. The positive trade balance with Germany amounted to PLN 49.5 billion (+USD 13.7 billion, +EUR 11.6 billion), compared to PLN 39.0 billion (+USD 10.2 billion, +EUR 9.1 billion) in 2017.
