Once you’ve narrowed down your list, ask yourself which of the dreams on it you’d like to achieve this year, why you care about those particular dreams, and which of those projects you’d like to try to achieve.
As usual, reread everything you have written and look for the usual keywords. When you are finished, you will have taken another step towards your Ikigai.
Now is the time to really push your imagination. Release any mental blocks or limitations, and let your mind wander.
Some of the following sentences will be about your free time, some will be about imaginary situations, some will be about the financial aspect of your life. For the latter, there is only one rule: the amount mentioned must not be used to pay debts, bills or other existing accounts.
Ready, set, and if…
and if...ikigai
As usual, take note of recurring themes and keywords.
Remember when I asked you earlier to think about your favorite books or movies? We often tend to admire characters who somehow reflect the values we take as an example, or that we consider important. Sometimes we appreciate characters for their characteristics and abilities.
For this exercise, you can take inspiration from characters from your favorite movies and books, politicians, famous people, scientists... in short, any person you would like to be like - at least in certain characteristics.
Personally, I think this is the hardest exercise on the whole canada email list list. I don't know about you, but I'm as good at finding good points and qualities in others as I am bad at finding them in myself.
In case you need a little help, here is a - not too long - list of virtues. Take a look and make a note of the ones you possess. There is no need to be modest or shy, but it is certainly essential to be sincere!
The best decisions
We are almost there. The penultimate step before finding your Ikigai is to reflect on the goals, projects or dreams that you have already achieved, and that you are already happy with.
What are the best decisions you have made in your life? Why do you think you did the right thing?
Take your time to answer these questions. Reflect on the projects you’ve accomplished, the obstacles you’ve had to overcome. The important decisions that influenced the outcome, and the motivations that led you to persevere.
better decisions
Looking back on these milestones, how did you feel? Which of the decisions you made still make you feel fulfilled today? Which of those decisions still give meaning to your life today?
Your strengths and values are two fundamental aspects of your Ikigai
