The platform Adweek wanted to answer this question and commissioned Defy Media to investigate. The agency conducted a survey among 1,500 young people between the ages of 13 and 20. The question was asked which platform they use. YouTube (95%) comes first, followed by Instagram (69%), Facebook (67%), SnapChat (67%) and Twitter (52%). These platforms also form the top 5 when asked which platform they cannot live without. Half of the respondents indicate that they cannot live without YouTube. Snapchat (15%), Instagram (9%), Facebook (9%) and Twitter (6%) lag far behind.
Goal
Generation Z keeps in touch with friends mainly via Snapchat (35%), Facebook (26%) and Instagram (18%). As the most important source of news, Facebook and YouTube are in joint first place with 23 percent, followed by Twitter (14%). How-to information is most often searched for via YouTube (66%), Pinterest (9%) or Facebook and Google Plus (6%).
