As I was saying, we're all afraid

Post by jrineakter »

What struck me was hearing an interview with Charles Aznavour, who was a great French singer who had a mind-blowing career both in terms of the quality of people who were fans of him, and his longevity, he sang until… I don’t have the exact age, but I think he was over 85, maybe even 90 and he was still singing, so someone who had fantastic experience, well we heard him as an elderly person who was 50-60 years old, maybe even more experienced, well he said he was still afraid before going on stage. And we, who don’t see the backstage, who only attend the performance that we see with his microphone, we say to ourselves: “Wow! That’s impressive. He doesn’t know fear”. We really come across this type of example a lot.

So, what is very important for me to understand is that courage is not the absence of fear, it is the ability to act despite fear. I repeat that. Courage, therefore the fact of saying to yourself: "Come on, I'm going to do something even if I'm afraid", courage is not the absence of fear. We are not courageous when we are not afraid, we are courageous when we act despite the fear that we finally manage to... not to completely overcome our fears because, as I was saying, no one manages to completely cancel out fear. It's exceptional. I don't even know if it's really possible to meet a human being who knows no fear, but if that's the case, it's really exceptional.

So courage is ultimately, and I find this very france whatsapp number data reassuring, it is ultimately our ability to act despite fear and it is not the absence of fear. Already, if you understand this, if you integrate this thing, you have already taken a very important step, because you can understand that the antidote to fear... The antidote is a remedy, we use antidote for a poison for example. If you get bitten by a snake, if you have snake poison in your body, well we will give you the antidote, that is to say what will cure you, what will remove the effects of the poison on your body. Well the antidote to fear, what cures you of fear, is action.

Here, what we need to keep in mind, in my opinion, is that it is action, but let's say small actions. We must not, in my opinion, especially at the beginning, when we are not too used to it, we must not take enormous risks and say to ourselves: "Wow! I'm scared, so I'm going to take a big risk by closing my eyes and ignoring my fear", because the irrational part of our brain, the emotional part of our brain, it will make us feel very very bad, it will be constantly telling us: "Hey! Oh! I'm scared. You made this decision to do this crazy thing and to act in a crazy, thoughtless way, but me, the irrational part of your brain, the emotional part, I'm scared. I want you and me to stay alive, so I want you too, the rational part of the brain, the reason, I want you too to be scared".

So, the best thing is to start slowly, because when you start slowly with small, easy and thoughtful actions, you create what is called a spiral and rather we will say a chain of positive things that will give you results. So, each positive result will give you more confidence and you will therefore be able to continue to act and obtain results that will give you more confidence etc.
