Step 7 of ADD is guided by the facilitator who describes which options were most appropriate to choose as part of the iterations. Depending on what was chosen, players receive additional points or are penalized. For each iteration, a total score is calculated that combines the points from the chosen cards, the result of rolling the dice, and any bonuses or penalties resulting from the analysis. At the end of the game, the points received in the different iterations are added up and a total is calculated. The player with the highest total wins.
Once the game is over, the facilitator encourages a discussion with the sri lanka consumer email list participants in order to exchange experiences and opinions regarding the game and the architecture design process in general. This discussion is a fundamental aspect within the game sessions.
Conclusion
Smart Decisions is a game that aims to illustrate the process of designing software architectures using ADD. Currently, the game has content focused on the design of a Big Data system, but in the future we hope to have other gaming contexts. We have had the opportunity to conduct gaming sessions with diverse populations including software architects, teachers, and also with students(1). Following these sessions, we have received very positive feedback about the game.
Finally, it should be noted that the game is available for free at
We invite you to download it, play it, and give us your feedback. Additionally, we are looking for contributions from the community to generate other content in areas other than Big Data.
