Pinterest is used to share fun pictures of clothes, home decor & delicious food, but it can also be used for more serious purposes. For example, for a visual resume , like Wanda Catsman made. But you can also use the visual social networking site in the classroom. In this video I show you a few examples.

Martijn Kleppe is a researcher at Erasmus University in Rotterdam. He recently gave switzerland telegram data a guest lecture to a group of 30 American students and he used Pinterest to get the students thinking visually creatively. Martijn gave the students the assignment to find *the* image of 3 events:
the most important news event in their lives ;
the uprising in Syria ;
the Republican convention .
After students discussed among themselves which image came to mind, they had to search for that image – online. The lesson only lasted two hours, and Martijn wanted to discuss the images during the same lesson. In the past, he had students email him their images and he would pick them out of his mailbox like crazy to quickly put them on Powerpoint. But this was very difficult in terms of time and he also did not get a good overview so quickly to discuss the big picture. He went looking for a better platform and ended up at Pinterest.
