At the same time, we need to pay attention to the trends of international leaders such as Tesla, NVIDIA, and openAI (such as rapid expansion after mass production due to performance improvements).

MitrEarth, a knowledge platform, can identify risk points, provide disaster warnings and reduce losses

MitrEarth , an innovative online platform developed by lecturers bc data philippines from Chulalongkorn University , simplifies geological knowledge and provides cutting-edge topographic data for provinces in Thailand. The platform can identify risk points, issue disaster warnings, and enhance community emergency preparedness capabilities. The platform quickly came to the fore when heavy rains and mudslides devastated the Mae Sai district in Chiang Rai province, raising a series of pressing questions: Where will the floods go? Will it endanger our homes? Do we need to prepare to evacuate?

The MitrEarth platform, created by University's Department of Geology , was created to address these concerns. Since its launch in 2019, it has become a trusted source of disaster-related information, attracting more than 200,000 followers. The platform uses topographic maps created using Geographic Information System (GIS) tools and satellite data to enable users to understand local terrain and assess disaster risks. These maps are already used by local authorities and public platforms for disaster warning and emergency planning.

During recent flooding in Chiang Rai, Lampang, and Sukhothai, MitrEarth’s maps provided actionable insights. Websites such as Chiang Rai Conversation and Ramrome Weather cited MitrEarth data to warn residents in disaster-prone areas. As Dr. Santi stressed: “Hazards, whether rare or frequent, can cause great damage. Understanding the geology helps us communicate and prepare effectively, thereby mitigating the impact of disasters.”

Dr. Santi’s platform is also an educational tool, providing free maps and resources for teaching and disaster management. He advocates for incorporating disaster education into school curricula to ensure everyone is aware of local risks such as floods, mudslides and tsunamis. He particularly highlighted the devastating mudslide incident in Phetchabun in 2001, which killed 136 people, as a reminder of the need to remain vigilant.
