Disinfection of faeces and wastewater
Before discharging liquid waste into the municipal drainage system, faecal matter and wastewater should be disinfected by treatment with a chlorine-containing disinfectant (for primary treatment, the concentration of active chlorine should be more than 40 mg/l). The duration of disinfection should be at least 1.5 hours;
The concentration of total residual chlorine in disinfected wastewater must be at least 10 mg/l.
3 Technological regulations for the disposal of spilled blood/biological fluids of patients infected with COVID-19
3.1 To remove small volumes (<10 ml) of spilled blood/body fluids:
Option 1: The spilled liquid should be covered with chlorine-containing disinfectant wipes (containing 5000 mg/L effective chlorine) and carefully removed, then the surfaces of the object should be wiped twice with chlorine-containing disinfectant wipes (containing 500 mg/L effective chlorine);
with disposable absorbent materials such as gauze, napkins, etc., soaked in a disinfectant solution containing 5000 mg/ml chlorine.
3.2 To remove large volumes (>10 ml) of spilled blood and biological fluids:
First of all, it is necessary to indicate the presence of spilled liquid using special marks;
Perform one of the following actions:
Option 1: Soak up the spilled liquid by placing a clean absorbent israel number data towel (containing acetyl hydroperoxide, which can absorb up to 1L of liquid per towel) on top of it for 30 minutes, and then clean the contaminated area after removing the contaminants.
Option 2: Completely cover the spilled liquid with disinfectant powder or bleach containing water-absorbing components, or completely cover it with disposable water-absorbing materials, then pour a sufficient amount of disinfectant containing chlorine at a concentration of 10,000 mg / L onto the water-absorbing material (or cover it with a dry towel that will be subjected to high-level disinfection). Leave it for at least 30 minutes, then thoroughly wipe up the spilled liquid.
Faeces, secretions, vomit, etc. from patients should be collected in special containers and disinfected for 2 hours using a disinfectant containing chlorine at a concentration of 20,000 mg/L, with the ratio of spilled liquid to disinfectant being 1:2.
After removing spilled liquid, the surfaces of the contaminated environment or objects should be disinfected.
Containers containing contaminants can be soaked and disinfected with a disinfectant containing active chlorine at a concentration of 5000 mg/L for 30 minutes, followed by cleaning.
Collected contaminants should be disposed of as medical waste.
Used items should be placed in double-layer medical waste bags and disposed of as medical waste.
