The loading speed of a website largely depends on the weight of images on the pages. This has a direct impact on the ranking of the website in the search engine. Even if you use an effective image optimization plugin, do not overload the page with many images. There are a huge number of services that allow you to preserve the quality of images while reducing their size. However, be careful: compare the original and the compressed version.

When creating images, you need to investor leads use the sizes in which you will upload them to web pages.

Browsers will be able to analyze the content on the page faster if the parameters (height and width of the image) are initially specified in CSS. This is how image optimization is performed on WordPress and other popular platforms. A small tip: for LCD and OLED displays (with Retina), it is better to add a 2x image, and then configure one image in different sizes for different screens. In this case, your users will see only good quality images if they view the site from Retina displays.

How big should image files be?

Optimization of image sizes in online stores, where their number can exceed not only tens, but also hundreds per page, is performed so that the image size is about 70 KB. If we are talking about an article that contains a corresponding illustration, then the image weight can be larger. But do not overdo it.

I have always been concerned about the issue of moving to a fundamentally new level. So that the indicators would grow not by 2 or 3 times, but by several orders of magnitude. From a thousand visits to ten thousand or from ten thousand to a hundred thousand, if we are talking about a website, for example.

And I know that such leaps are always the result of painstaking work in five areas:

Technical condition of the site.
SEO.
Collection of site semantics.
Creating useful content.
Working on conversion.
And at the same time, every manager needs an increase in sales and the number of applications from the site at the moment.

How can I reduce the size without losing quality?

The optimal image size is one that keeps the quality high and the weight minimal. This means that the image should be as clear as possible.

The image size is reduced if you export it to Photoshop (File → Export → Save in Web). However, the quality will also be reduced.

How does this work:

Image in JPEG format.

We reduce the quality to 70%.

Change the size of the image.

For example, a PNG-8 image has dimensions of 4000x3500 pixels. Weight — 2.36 MB. We change the image format to JPEG, while lowering the quality from 100 to 75%. We reduce the dimensions by 2 times (2000x1750 pixels). Thus, the image weight will decrease to 285.3 KB.

Image quality
When optimizing sites for Google or Yandex, it is important to consider the quality of the content and its size. Since sites are primarily focused on their users, the graphics should be eye-catching and clear. Keep this in mind.

Another criterion for image quality is its logical placement on the site. That is, the image must match the text on the page.

Storing images
We recommend storing images on your personal domain or subdomains linked to it. In this case, the images will be displayed correctly, and users will be able to get to your site. The image in the search will redirect the guest to the desired resource, where the selected image is stored.
