The future is near: Elon Musk showed how robots assemble their own kind

Post by batasakas »

During its 2023 Investor Day, Tesla showed off a new video featuring its humanoid robot Optimus. Nineteen months after its initial announcement, the Tesla robot is walking around and performing various tasks.

as last October, he had to be rolled out onto the stage to wave to the audience: "So the speed of development is very significant. Obviously, this is not parkour, it is walking, but we already have several Optimus."

The video shows Optimus walking, albeit rather slowly bolivia number data compared to the Atlas parkour robot, and using opposable thumbs and humanoid hands. In the scene shown, one robot first takes a mechanical arm from a stand, then carries it to the assembly area, where a second robot screws the arm onto a third.

Boston Dynamics has been working on humanoid robots since 1992. It introduced the humanoid robot PETMAN in 2009. Atlas debuted in 2013 and took a full 10 years to teach it to dance, parkour, and perform some basic tasks.

According to Musk, Tesla's robots will offer something that others don't have - cutting-edge artificial intelligence. In addition, specially designed drives have been created for Optimus.

"We designed the electric motor, the gearbox, the power electronics, obviously the battery, everything else that goes into Optimus. We were very surprised to find how little was out there. There are a lot of electric motors, gearboxes, and other things in the world, and we found that none of them were suitable for humanoid robots."

Elon Musk added that investors do not yet realize the potential of the direction, but in the future the work will exceed the volume of the automotive division.
