Gawker founder Nick Denton hints at his new project at SXSW

Post by ayeshshiddika11 »

Once again, Austin (Texas) hosts one of the most multidisciplinary and attractive events for the marketing world. We are talking about South by Southwest (SXSW) where we have witnessed the first statements of Gawker founder Nick Denton about his plans after the disappearance of the site .

During his participation in one of the panels he showed his interest in the field of messaging and communication , specifically in the different behaviors that people project when we are in private and public spaces.

He believes we offer more “interesting and constructive” versions of ourselves when we are in private. That is why he is trying to create a place where individuals can understand each other without the immediate feedback offered by, say, Twitter (which can act as a brake on what we really think).

In his speech he gave as an example his use of Google Hangouts or the direct messages of the aforementioned microblogging platform. Through these people can exchange ideas or links, generally resulting in a more enriching and attractive experience.

Denton has not hesitated to point out nepal phone data that he is not entirely convinced by the way Facebook and Twitter work and offer . The former, in his words, has led him to “disdain” some of his friends. The latter has managed to provoke the same feeling in him, but towards the rest of the world.

If we look at his speech, everything points to the fact that the new communication model he talked about at SXSW 2017 is inspired by Reddit . However, he made it clear that there are some things about the way the platform works that he doesn't like.

The Internet continues to seem like an “impressive” universe to him, and he yearns for its beginnings, the communication and information models established by the first blogs that emerged

Recall that Gawker closed in August 2016 after a jury ruled in favor of Hulk Hogan's lawsuit for invasion of his privacy . The origin of this lawsuit lies in the publication of a sexually explicit video of the famous wrestler. An action that resulted in the payment of damages of 140 million dollars that led to the bankruptcy of the site.
