Meta has confirmed thatit will launch its paid plan for Instagram and Facebook in Europe in November , which will allow users to enjoy content from the social networks without viewing ads . This option had been anticipated by a leak from The New York Times in early October, and has now been confirmed.
The decision is based on the need to comply with the new parameters regarding data collection and user privacy established in the DSA (Digital Services Act) of the European Union, which will come into force on January 1, 2024. In this way, Meta would seek to comply with the law by offering an alternative for those people who do not want the company to use their data to offer them personalized advertising.
How much will the new Instagram and Facebook payment plan cost?
Depending on where you buy it, it will cost you €9.99/month cyprus number data on the web or €12.99/month on iOS and Android. Regardless of where you buy it, the subscription will apply to all Facebook and Instagram accounts linked in a user's Account Center.
In any case, this situation will change in a few months: as the company has explained , “As is the case with many online subscriptions, iOS and Android prices take into account the fees charged by Apple and Google through their respective purchasing policies. Until March 1, 2024, the initial subscription covers all accounts linked in a user’s Account Center. However, starting March 1, 2024, an additional fee of €6/month on the web and €8/month on iOS and Android will apply for each additional account listed in a user’s Account Center.”
The company has also assured that it remains open to exploring new options that will allow it to comply with EU regulatory demands.
